reStart Internet & Gaming Addiction

RE_Main

RE_Main

reStart provides treatment for “Internet Addiction Disorder,” a problem that can cost its victims their personal and professional relationships. To dramatize this, we used the language of points, levels, wins, and losses already prevalent in online gaming. The juxtaposition, while humorous, makes the point that life is much more serious than a computer game.

APP

The “Unplug Me” app uses technology to combat technology addiction. It stores users’ login information for social networks, like Facebook, and online gaming platforms, like World of Warcraft, and can track when the user logs in. Users set goals (“Two weeks without Facebook”), and their success or failure can be shared with fellow sufferers. This forms a support network in which addicts can encourage and track each other’s progress.
